Chasing Headhunter or Mageblood in Path of Exile 2 isn't something you do with a loose Atlas and a lucky prayer. You need a plan, and you need enough
PoE 2 Currency behind it to keep rolling maps when the game gives you nothing back for a while. The current Ritual approach is all about forcing the right reward pool, then squeezing as many favor refreshes as you can out of each map. If you're not building around Tainted Rituals, you're mostly just hoping.
Set up the Atlas before burning maps
The key Atlas passive is Spreading Darkness. That node changes how Ritual rewards behave, giving uniques a strong chance to appear as certain item types based on the Ritual style or biome. For belt hunting, Tainted Rituals are the ones you care about, because they push belts, charms, and flasks into the reward mix. Jado is the Master most players should run here. His tablet-doubling chance can make a good map feel silly, especially when your tablets already have strong Ritual modifiers. Unexpected Mission is also worth taking. City layouts can be rough, and having alternative maps saves time and irritation.
Budget farming still has a place
If you're not ready to spend several divines per map, the cheaper setup can still build your bankroll. Most of the cost comes from Head of the King, which is hard to skip if you care about value per run. A basic version uses one Freedom of Faith and two Ritual tablets. Look for reduced Tribute cost when rerolling favors first. If you're running City maps on a tighter budget, an Irradiated tablet helps push the area level up. Level 80 matters because high-value Omens start showing up more often, and those sales can pay for the next stage.
Use Head of the King whenever possible.
Prioritise reduced Tribute cost for favor rerolls.
Push maps to area level 80 when you can.
Do the boss Ritual before the smaller ones.
The expensive setup is where the hunt gets serious
The stronger version usually means City maps, since four tablet slots give you room to stack the right effects. You'll want one Freedom of Faith, two high-end Ritual tablets with three extra favor rerolls, and a fourth cheaper Ritual tablet to round it out. This is not a casual setup. A tier 16, six-mod, area level 80 map is the baseline. On the tablets, reduced reroll cost is mandatory. Extra Tribute from sacrificed monsters is next. Omen chance is great too, and reduced deferral cost can be the difference between calmly saving a Mageblood and staring at it with no Tribute left.
Run the map in the right order
The mistake people make is clearing whatever Ritual they see first. Don't do that. Rush the boss, kill it, and complete the boss Ritual before the others. Rituals remember earlier sacrifices in the same map, so the boss can appear again in later circles and pump up your Tribute. After that, clear the remaining Rituals. If you find a summoning circle, do it early, because extra monsters mean extra Tribute. It's a simple rhythm, but it works. Keep your tablets stocked, manage your
path of exile 2 currency carefully, and treat every run like a numbers game rather than a jackpot chase.
